Much in agreement re visualisation. Found those exercises best as a jumping off point to discover the modality that comes the most naturally (not the visual in my case), and then building on that to broaden perception.

I had already worked as an artist before seriously studying magic, so it seemed weird to me to start with "picture a green triangle" sort of visualization, and I also don't like that it excludes people that have aphantasia. I use my other senses/sensations to differentiate between my imagination and the Other. I never really confused spirit encounters with my imagination, but I think one of the more interesting exercises to build on that was a very casual remote viewing, projection, and astral interactions over the course of being part of local group that often had to meet up online for convenience.

I'm looking forward to catching up on some of your music posts when I get a chance.

That dick pic tweet is still one of my top ten faves of all time.

Yeah, I think it's my perspective from drawing that makes me resistant to those sorts of exercises. My own internal visual landscape is like endless recursive variations on the drawing at the top of this post, and I don't find that my capacity to have visionary experiences is really engaged or cultivated at all by that sort of one-pointed focus on a geometric shape floating in space. For me, that whole area is led by the spirit work itself. If I'm deep in it with certain spirits, particularly water-related spirits, I'm going to be having visionary experiences going off in my dreams and just generally, and they are symptomatic of the work and led by spirit, rather than something I'm consciously trying to make happen with exercises. So it's more a process of placing myself in that space and inviting it, rather than employing various conscious techniques to twist its arm and cajole it into happening.

The mix that I'm working on at the moment is mostly Cuban and Brazilian Orisha-related popular music, and I hope to have that ready to post in a couple of weeks, but there are about 25 tracks on it and that's quite a lot of records to write about...

I thought it was perhaps a little inappropriate to follow the eulogy that I wrote about Jake with a dick joke, but I can see him finding it funny.

Yes, well said.

Good lord! That sounds like it's gonna be amazing though.

Haha, yeah, from the stories of heard of him, it doesn't sound like he'd mind at all. I'm sorry I never met him, I scrounged and saved up for bibliotheque rouge series of his books; his research and perspective were such valuable contributions to the occult landscape in general, and in some cases, pretty vindicating for myself, personally. I'd liked to have thanked him for that.

I was never into visualisation for years(*) but I've got a bit better at it in the last year or so since doing some LBRP. I kinda like it. Still more into earth stuff
